Position Summary:
The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and operational success of
Airdrie Edge Gymnastics. The ED oversees and participates in the day-to-day operations, leads coaching and
administrative staff, ensures financial and administrative accountability, and supports the long-term growth and
sustainability of the organization.
The ED plays a key role in implementing Airdrie Edge Gymnastics’ strategic priorities while providing insight
and recommendations to support ongoing planning and decision-making. This position serves as the primary
point of contact for members, staff, and community partners, and is instrumental in shaping a positive and
professional club environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy
● Implement the strategic plan established by the Board of Directors in a timely way
● Provide updates and operational insights to the Board to support effective governance
● Contribute to organizational planning and continuous improvement initiatives
Operations & Programming
● Actively oversee day-to-day operations of the facility and all programming areas2
● Work collaboratively with coaching staff of all levels of certification to optimize program delivery,
scheduling, and capacity of the gym spaces
● Ensure a safe, organized, and welcoming environment for athletes, families, and staff
Financial Management
● Co-create and manage budgets, conduct financial reporting, and be accountable to the Board for
operational expenditures
● Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to the Board, and follow their direction
● Identify opportunities to improve financial sustainability and operational efficiency
People & Culture
● Lead recruitment, onboarding, supervision, and performance reviews of all staff
● Support the development and mentorship of coaching and administrative teams
● Foster a respectful, collaborative, rewarding, and accountable workplace culture
Community Engagement & Growth
● Build and maintain respectful relationships with families and community partners
● Research and initiate fundraising initiatives, gym sponsorships, and grant applications
● Promote the organization and athletes and encourage membership engagement
Governance & Compliance
● Ensure compliance with all applicable safety standards, certifications, and regulations
● Maintain policies and procedures that support safe and effective operations
● Actively enforce alignment between Board governance and operational execution
Qualifications & Experience:
Required
● Demonstrated leadership experience
● Proven involvement in the complete planning cycle for sport events
● Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills within a team
● Experience collaborating with staff and overseeing day-to-day operations
● Financial management experience, including budgeting and reporting
● Ability to work collaboratively with a volunteer Board of Directors
Preferred
● Leadership experience in a sport organization, nonprofit agency, or recreational facility
● Experience in gymnastics or a related sport environment as an athlete or professional
● NCCP certification or willingness to obtain
● Experience with writing and obtaining funding through grants, fundraising, or sponsorship
● Familiarity with Safe Sport practices and compliance requirements3
Certifications
● CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days)
● Safe Sport or equivalent training (or willingness to obtain)

Work Requirements
● Must reside in, or be willing to relocate to, the Airdrie area
● Availability to work in-person on evenings and weekends as required
