Position Summary:

We rely heavily on the experience, diligence, focus, and commitment of our shop staff in keeping our commitments to clients.
The Rebar Fabrication Equipment Operator is required to perform a variety of simple to moderately complex material handling and machine operator duties, involving shearing, bending, receiving, and shipping of reinforcing steel. Completing these duties with a focus on safety and quality is critical in this position. You are an important member of the production team, and we value your skills and their contribution to our success.
Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
Responsibility Area #1 - Operations
- Produce rebar pieces that are accurate to the Bar Lists provided.
- Conduct operations that support reaching production goals safely and with attention to a high level of quality.
- Train, coach, and mentor shop Laborers in rebar fabrication procedures.
- Assist in improving production efficiencies in the shop through Lean thinking.
- Only operate equipment that you have received specific training and/or licenses for including shears, bending equipment, saws, cranes, forklifts, and any other equipment used in the shop.
Responsibility Area #2 - Documentation and Reporting
- Help ensure work is completed as scheduled.
- Assist in the process of tracking production in the shop.
Responsibility Area #3 - Health and Safety
- Ensure all shop staff and visitors adhere to A&H Steel’s Health & Safety plan.
- Ensure good housekeeping is kept in order to perform work safely and efficiently.
- Accountable for the safety of the production shop.
- Responsible for knowing and understanding all the safe operating procedures for the equipment being operated.
Responsibility Area #4 - Communication
- Report any concerns to the Shop Foreman.
- Minimize absenteeism and follow company protocol for required days off.
Responsibility Area #5 – Values and Purpose
- Focus on developing self and others through practicing living the company values every day.
- Participate in continuous training, coaching, and discussions about the values as requested or needed.
- Participate in helping A&H facilitate its purpose.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Assist with bending, shearing and loading of rebar.
- Clear sheared materials from storage racks, supply stock length rebar for cutting operations, receive and position steel bundles on stock shear racks.
- Operate hand-held, pendant controlled overhead crane and forklift.
- Report faulty material, improper operations, and unusual conditions to supervisor.
- Position will require exposure to heat, cold, wet and/or humid conditions, vibration and industrial manufacturing noise.
- Scan stock and outbound reinforcing steel.
- Load trailers with completed reinforcing steel materials.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds, and to stand 8 hours.
- Forklift and crane experience is a plus.
Education and Experience:
Note: A combination of education and experience outside of the standards below may also be considered.
Education-
High School Diploma
Experience -
Shear Operator- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
Benderman- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
Shifts:
The Shear Operator position will be working the night shift from 2:00pm-12:00am.
The Benderman position will be working either morning shift from 6:00am-4:00pm or the nightshift from 2:00pm-12:00am .
Pay: $23.00-$28.00 per hour
