We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled CHP (Combined Heat and Power) Field Service Technician to join our growing service team. This role is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, commissioning, and optimization of CHP and distributed power generation systems throughout Southern Ontario.
The successful candidate will possess strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently while delivering exceptional customer service. This position offers the opportunity to work with advanced power generation technologies and industry-leading OEM equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair, and commissioning of CHP systems, generator sets, and balance-of-plant equipment.
- Analyze equipment performance and recommend corrective actions to improve reliability and operational efficiency.
- Conduct inspections and testing to ensure equipment reliability and performance.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, controls, networking, and operational issues in the field.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Complete service reports, maintenance records, and work orders accurately and on time.
- Maintain service vehicles, tools, and equipment in a safe and organized manner.
- Follow all company safety policies and industry regulations.
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding repairs, maintenance recommendations, and equipment status.
- Provide technical support to customers both on-site and remotely.
- Support emergency service calls and participate in the on-call rotation as required.
- Work collaboratively with OEM partners and internal technical teams to optimize system performance across the region.
Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma.
- Valid Ontario Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR Certification (or ability to obtain).
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of related industrial, electrical, mechanical, or power generation experience.
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting abilities.
- Willingness to travel extensively throughout Southern Ontario.
- Ability to participate in after-hours and on-call service coverage.
· Proficiency with computers, smartphones, Microsoft Office, and electronic reporting systems.
Preferred Trade Certifications
Candidates holding one or more of the following certifications are strongly encouraged to apply:
- 442A Industrial Electrician
- 309A Construction & Maintenance Electrician
- 433A Industrial Mechanic (Millwright)
- 310T Truck & Coach Technician
- 310S Automotive Service Technician
Technical Assets
Experience with any of the following is considered a strong asset:
- CHP and distributed generation systems
- Jenbacher, MWM, or MAN gas engines
- Generator systems and alternators
- Industrial electrical controls
