PRIMARY PURPOSE
Leads the communications development and planning in support of corporate and divisional initiatives. Develops, coordinates, implements and monitors TransLink’s operational and tactical communications initiatives, which may include social media and media strategies.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Leads the development of communication planning, strategies and plans for corporate and employee communications, ensuring the communication plans will support and advance business initiatives with forward-focused communications tactics.
Provides communication analysis for major TransLink initiatives, liaising with staff, contracted public relations/ communication resources, and ensuring plans and deliverables integrate corporate strategies. Manages the timing of all corporate and divisional communications, ensuring there are no conflicts and identifies and highlights opportunities.
Advises and provides guidelines for key communicators at the executive level and in business units on communication approaches; provides support to the CEO and other executives for presentations.
Oversees and supports Board correspondence by drafting and proof reading all emails on behalf of the Board sent to members of the public.
Initiates, develops and manages communication programs across the TransLink enterprise, collaborating with communications resources in the operating companies to ensure consistent and timely implementation. Designs, implements and leads events that engage the executive and board members.
Researches, writes, edits, creates and manages production of internal and corporate communications materials across various levels. Leads and manages effective and regular communications for all staff through a range of channels, ensuring ease of access
Develops and maintains effective communications strategies and plans to communicate with TransLink's stakeholders. Monitors public reaction to issues critical to maintaining confidence in TransLink as a public organization.
Builds and maintains working relationships inside and outside of the enterprise to enable effective communications planning and implementation.
Hires, trains, coaches and manages the performance of staff, including conducting performance reviews and administering disciplinary measures; contributes to the department budget and business planning processes.
