Job Synopsis
The Thrift Team Member – Receiving Lead is a full-time, hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing the receiving department at New Hamburg Thrift Centre. Working collaboratively with the management team and broader thrift shop staff, this position develops efficient systems and strategies to meet revenue and production targets while supervising, training, and scheduling volunteers and part-time team members in receiving.
This role combines operational leadership with active volunteer support, contributing to a customer-focused shop environment that embodies MCC's mission of faithful stewardship, community care, and fundraising to support relief and development work worldwide.

Additional Details:
This role is based at the Thrift Centre in 41 Heritage Drive, New Hamburg - Ontario. Hours of work will include day, evening and Saturday shifts.
Applicants must be legally able to work in Canada for the duration of their employment. Successful candidates will be required to provide a Police Background Check upon hire.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to relate effectively with people of all ages, backgrounds, and diverse communities

Ability to work non-standard hours, including evenings and Saturdays

Physical ability to lift 50 lbs., exert 11–25 lbs. of force frequently, stand or walk intermittently for 7.5+ hours, and repeatedly bend, stoop, and reach (including use of stool or ladder)

Valid Ontario 'G' Drivers License
Preferred
- Experience working with volunteers.

Experience in a retail and/or warehouse environment.
- Awareness of second-hand market operations and trends.

Knowledge of antiques, collectibles, and brand recognition.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Receiving Operations
- Develop and implement efficient systems and strategies in the receiving department to meet revenue and production targets

Supervise, train, schedule, and conduct annual check-ins for volunteers in the receiving area

Provide day-to-day oversight and support to team members in receiving

Prepare daily task plans for volunteers to ensure production goals and quotas are met
Volunteer & Team Support
- Provide active, hands-on support and direction to volunteers, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment

Handle questions, concerns, and conflicts from customers, donors, and volunteers in a professional and respectful manner
Customer & Donor Engagement
- Serve as a brand ambassador for MCC, contributing to a customer-centric culture in all interactions

Operate Point-of-Sale terminals and troubleshoot or document issues as needed

Provide back-up support for other staff, including opening/closing procedures and cash reconciliations
Health, Safety & Stewardship
- Proactively support safe work practices, including proper lifting techniques and provision of appropriate tools

Maintain clean, safe workspaces in receiving and retail areas in accordance with health and safety standards

Model faithful stewardship and care for creation through responsible handling of donated goods

Salary Details
Base salary: $51,288 - The salary stated is an annual amount. This role starts on day 1 with a company paid benefit package

LTD premiums are the responsibility of all permanent, salaried positions. Premiums are the responsibility of the team member and are paid through salary deduction.
