We are currently seeking and experienced and motivated INTERMEDIATE CFAA CERTIFIED FIRE ALARM TECHNICIAN to join our growing team in the Greater Toronto Area. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting fire alarm inspections, testing, troubleshooting, accurately completing documentation and compliance reporting paperwork for a variety of commercial, industrial, institutional and multi-residential properties.
*This position REQUIRES experience working with large fire alarm networks, detailed inspection reporting and the flexibility to work evenings, nights, and weekends when required [8-12 weeks/year].
Responsibilities performing various duties related to fire alarm systems and life safety equipment such as:
- testing and inspecting networked fire alarm
- fire alarm verification inspections [monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, annual]
- complete detailed inspection reports using custom software
- accurately document specific deficiencies and compliance issues
- ensure all inspections meet regulatory and customer requirements
- preparation of technical synopsis for follow up purposes
- coordinate with customers, property managers and internal teams
- maintain inspection records and service documentation
- assist with troubleshooting and minor repairs as required
- follow company safety procedures and industry regulations.
- on call rotation is required.
Qualifications include
- valid/current Ontario Class G Drivers License with clean abstract
- CFAA certification with strong knowledge of CAN/ULC S536-04 & CAN/ULC S537-04 as well as Ontario Fire Code and industry best practices
- minimum 3 to 5 years of experience performing fire alarm inspections, field repairs, trouble shooting, ground fault tracing
- strong knowledge of and experience working with major manufacturers' systems that are networked
- ability to identify deficiencies and recommend corrective action
- experience using Building Reports software for inspection reporting and compliance documentation
- strong working knowledge of emergency lighting and troubleshooting
- mobile platform/fall arrest certification an asset
- excellent written and verbal communication skills
- enthusiastic, detail oriented team player who is also able to work independently
***SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS - - this position requires the successful candidate be available to work days plus nights for 8-12 weeks per calendar year, weekends and occasional overtime as required by customer schedules and project demands.***
