Position Summary

QHR Technologies is looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our talented Product Design team in thoughtfully shaping the visual interactions and user experiences for our company's healthcare product suite.

Our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software Accuro®EMR has the largest adoption in Canada and serves thousands of providers and millions of patients. Our patient platform Medeo leverages that market penetration and connects patients to their healthcare providers. Our other supporting products round out a robust offering, connecting healthcare providers to their patients, their data and each other.

We're looking for a seasoned senior product designer who has worked within a SaaS product organization – consumer or enterprise with experience leading junior and intermediate designers. Working with cross-functional teams (developers, product owners, product managers, researchers, fellow designers) you will drive design vision and strategy that meets the needs of our users. You’ll help us continue to push the boundaries of what is possible and help define the product experience across all our healthcare platforms, partnering with product management, research, and development to make sure we continue to lead and innovate by solving tomorrow's problems today.

Your Role

You will be part of an empowered product design team applying your experience and skills to design solutions for the product outcomes we want to achieve. Some of the problems you could be helping solve include:

Helping patients message, book appointments, organize documents and make video calls with their provider.
Enabling our product teams to deliver better experiences to providers that run their clinics with Canada’s largest single-platform EMR.
Working to build a complete suite of engagement tools for better communication between patients and providers.
Continually lead with user-centered design, research, validation, and accessibility in product design.

Primary Responsibilities

Design simple, elegant, data-driven, user-centric experiences that engage users
Define the user experience, interactions, and user interface through user flows, information architecture, sketches and wireframes, and visual design
Build functional prototypes in Figma to validate and test your designs
Participate in user research and testing
Establish and improve design systems, libraries, guidelines and patterns
Look for opportunities to solve problems in unique and innovative ways
Help maintain visual and brand consistency between all products and outlets
Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business goals into unique product experiences
Ensure that products area meet the highest standards of accessibility and inclusiveness.
Produces rapid concepts, user journeys, prototypes and screens with available design tools to create user-centered products, at any level of fidelity based on needs.
Independently drives accountable design work while open to feedback provided by design team members, cross-functional peers & leadership.
Presents designs to project teams and peers, using feedback to inform & direct design changes moving forward.
Visualizes & communicates product design vision in connection to branding.
Offers constructive feedback to design peers for ongoing work as part of a shared team feedback practice.
Works with business and technology stakeholders to understand features, quality, and time trade-offs.
Contributes to design maturity across the organization.
Builds and maintains product design specifications that support developers throughout a smooth build cycle.
Brings knowledge & insights to the team culture to support continual peer learning.
Collaborates closely with our Marketing, Product Management, Product Development, and QA partners.

Strives to consistently understand the co-dependent relation between Marketing, Product Development, UX/UI Design, Product Management, Finance and the Software Life Cycle Development (SLCD) process.

Qualifications, Education and Experience Requirements

5-8 years experience years of progressive responsibility in product design or user experience design roles.
A portfolio of mobile design work/case studies demonstrating your principles, methodologies, and approach
Experience with driving and applying user-centered design processes while working with cross-functional teams including development, product management, and user research.
Is highly experienced working in an agile environment, planning, and delivering work in sprint-based cycles.
Excellent communication and storytelling skills; you have the ability to help stakeholders understand the “why” behind your design rationale.
Has experience in crafting tailored high-fidelity prototypes, pitches, and concepts that concisely suit the audience at hand.
Has experience in peer mentorship, knowledge sharing, and in providing solo design support on complex projects.
Has experience in creating documented UX patterns, guidelines, and systems to ensure consistency in digital products.
Has experience building and maintaining libraries, UX wireframes, UI screen designs, rapid prototypes, flow diagrams and more.
Outstanding analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.
Ability to drive results independently while thriving in a collaborative environment
Experience working within a variety of Agile environments (especially with teams using Kanban or Scrum)
Clinical healthcare experience and/or experience with EMR software or Healthcare Technology is an asset.

We’d love to have you join us at our office in beautiful Kelowna, BC (once it’s safe to do so!) However, this role is completely remote-friendly - you can work from anywhere in Canada that suits you best. We only ask that you work in the Pacific time zone (PST.)
