TEACHING POSITION AVAILABLE

19-001 A temporary .5 FTE English Language Learning (ELL) teaching position is available at Pinecrest Elementary School, effective January 28, 2019 to June 28, 2019.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

TESL Certification (Canadian certification to teach ELL) is required; a combination of a minimum of three (3) university courses in ELL combined with ELL teaching experience may be considered;
Successful ELL and classroom teaching experience K-12 with demonstrated ability in oral language, reading, and writing instruction;
Commitment to sound assessment practice and the ability to use assessment findings to develop and guide instruction;
Ability to work effectively as a member of the department and school team;
Demonstrated ability to manage time and to be well organized;
Knowledge of the Aboriginal Educational Enhancement Agreement goals and ability to implement strategies to fulfil these goals;
Ability to integrate Indigenous content and ways of knowing into lessons;
Ability to perform assessments and create Annual Instruction Plans (AIPS);
Ability to meet Ministry of Education 1701 ELL guidelines and use Ministry of Education ELL standards;
Ability to establish strong relationships and work with students and families;
Practical knowledge of protocols and demonstrated understanding ofIndigenous culture;
Solid understanding of Language Arts curriculum and assessment practices in the BC graduation program and,
Knowledge of and ability to use the district Communicating Student Learning continuums and data system
