Maintenance Worker
Ronald McDonald House Newfoundland and Labrador is located in St. John’s, near the Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre. We provide accommodations and support to families with an ill or injured child who must travel to St. John’s for medical care. Operated by a small staff team and supported by dedicated volunteers, we are seeking a part-time Maintenance Worker.
This position is more than a maintenance role; it is an opportunity to contribute directly to a safe, welcoming, and well-functioning environment for families during a challenging time in their lives. Every room, hallway, shared space, and outdoor area plays a role in helping families feel supported and cared for.
Reporting to the Director of Family and Volunteer Services, the Maintenance Worker is responsible for supporting the day-to-day upkeep of the House through routine maintenance, preventative care, seasonal work, and timely response to repair needs.
Responsibilities
· Complete routine maintenance and minor repairs.
· Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
· Conduct inspections and identify repair needs.
· Perform basic carpentry, painting, plastering, and minor plumbing tasks.
· Maintain furniture, fixtures, doors, and equipment.
· Coordinate with external contractors when required.
· Maintain tools, supplies, and maintenance records.
· Support snow clearing, groundskeeping, and outdoor maintenance.
· Follow health and safety procedures and identify potential hazards.

Preferred Qualifications
· Two to three years of maintenance experience.
· Knowledge of carpentry, painting, plastering, and basic plumbing.
· Ability to safely use tools and equipment.
· Strong organizational skills.
· Ability to work independently and manage priorities.
· Physical ability to perform maintenance tasks indoors and outdoors.
· Valid driver’s licence.
Work Conditions
This is a part-time position of 20 hours per week. Work is performed on-site and involves physical activity both indoors and outdoors.
Compensation and Application
