Job description:
We're a growing QSR brand with 14 locations across Alberta, including a food truck, with multiple new store openings planned in Calgary and Edmonton over the coming months.
As we continue our journey toward 20+ locations, we're expanding our HR team and looking for an experienced HR Generalist to support our continued growth. Working alongside our existing HR and Operations teams, you'll contribute to the ongoing success of our people programs, support our leaders, and help continuously enhance the initiatives and processes that drive our business forward.
This role goes beyond traditional HR administration. You'll partner closely with Operations, Store Managers, and Leadership to attract talent, support employee development, enhance the team member experience, and contribute to the continued evolution of our HR programs across a fast-growing multi-unit quick service restaurant company.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
· Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, from sourcing and interviewing through hiring and onboarding.
· Coordinate interviews and hiring with Store Managers and Leadership.
· Build talent pipelines through job boards, community partnerships, networking, and other recruitment initiatives.
· Support employer branding initiatives that help attract top talent.
Onboarding & Employee Experience
· Coordinate onboarding and orientation to ensure every new team member has a positive and consistent start.
· Support the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, development, performance management, and offboarding.
· Promote a positive, inclusive, and engaging workplace culture that reflects HANKKi's values.
· Support employee engagement, recognition, and retention initiatives.
HR Operations
· Administer HR policies, procedures, and day-to-day people operations.
· Maintain accurate employee records, HR documentation, and HRIS data.
· Prepare employment agreements, letters, policy acknowledgements, and other HR documentation.
· Coordinate employee benefits administration and payroll-related information with the Payroll team.
· Respond to HR inquiries from employees and managers in a professional and timely manner.
· Ensure compliance with Alberta Employment Standards, employment legislation, and company policies.
Performance Management & Employee Relations
· Coordinate probation reviews, performance evaluations, and employee development initiatives.
· Support Store Managers and Leadership with employee relations matters, coaching, investigations, conflict resolution, and documentation.
· Assist with disciplinary processes, performance improvement plans, and offboarding activities while ensuring a respectful employee experience.
Learning & Development
· Coordinate leadership development, onboarding, and employee training initiatives.
· Assist in developing HR resources, SOPs, training materials, and people programs.
· Support career development and succession planning initiatives across the organization.
HR Projects & Continuous Improvement
· Support new restaurant openings from an HR perspective, including recruitment and onboarding.
· Partner with Operations to support staffing and workforce planning across multiple locations.
· Recommend and implement improvements to HR systems, processes, and employee programs.
· Help strengthen and scale HANKKi's HR initiatives as the company continues to grow.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
· Passion for developing people and creating positive workplace experiences.
· Demonstrated experience supporting day-to-day Human Resources and People Operations.
· Strong knowledge of HR policies, Alberta Employment Standards, and employment legislation.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build trust and strong working relationships.
· Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, multi-unit environment.
· Professional, approachable, and able to handle confidential information with discretion and sound judgment.
· Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS or HR-related software.
· Previous experience in hospitality, restaurant, retail, franchise, or other multi-unit environments is considered a strong asset.
· Experience supporting a growing organization is highly preferred.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
· 3–5 years of Human Resources experience.
· Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, and HR administration.
· Knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards and HR best practices.
· Experience administering employee benefits and maintaining HR records.
· Experience using Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
· Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
· CPHR designation (or working toward designation) is considered an asset.
· Ability to travel occasionally between HANKKi locations within Calgary and Alberta when required.
· Valid Class 5 Driver's License and reliable transportation is considered an asset.
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
