Gillier Drainage Inc is accepting applications for the position of Farm Drainage Operator in the Chatham-Kent area. The successful candidate will operate various excavation equipment to assist with the installation of drainage tile systems and is expected/required to:
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate excavation equipment such as excavators, tractors, backhoes, mini-excavators in a safe and controlled manner.
- Preform pre shift inspections of the equipment.
- Perform periodical safety, maintenance or servicing checks to ensure proper functioning of the equipment.
- Complete daily equipment inspection logs and CVOR booklets.
- Excavate safe and accessible trenches with proper sloping and shoring for tee connections.
- Assist with tile repairs and reconnections, loading and hauling of materials and site preparation.
- Responsible for upkeep of tools, equipment and work area.
- Attend daily and weekly safety tailgate meetings
- Comply with the company’s health and safety policies
- Perform other duties as assigned
What Makes a Successful Candidate?
- Flexible to work for extended time periods, shift work, overtime and on weekends
- Have mechanical knowledge and experience with general maintenance
- Valid G class driver's license
- Ability to work under pressure and adaptable to change
- Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting experience
- Maintain good housekeeping practices
- Able to work independently in a busy environment
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required
- Experience operating heavy equipment
- Mechanical background and or experience in farming or construction
- B Level Drainage License will be considered an asset
Hourly rate will be based on experience.
