About the Role
As a Fire Alarm Technician, you will be responsible for the inspection, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of fire alarm systems across residential, commercial, and institutional sites. You will play a key role in ensuring systems are compliant, fully operational, and properly documented in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform annual and routine inspections of fire alarm systems in accordance with applicable codes and standards
- Test, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair fire alarm panels, devices, and related life safety equipment
- Install and verify fire alarm system components as required
- Conduct system functionality checks to ensure proper operation
- Complete accurate and detailed service reports and maintain up-to-date site records
- Communicate clearly with clients, explaining work performed and providing professional recommendations
- Respond to service calls as part of an on-call rotation
- Work safely and maintain compliance with all company and regulatory safety procedures
Qualifications
- Minimum 1–3 years experience in the fire alarm industry (preferred)
- CFAA certification or ASTTBC Registered Fire Protection Technician designation (asset)
- Strong troubleshooting skills with fire alarm systems and low-voltage electrical systems
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
- Valid driver’s licence (required)
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotation
