Job Title: Warehouse Team Lead
Reports to: Terminal Manager
Job Type: Full Time - Midnight Shift
Job Duties:
- All tasks and duties on the Forklift Operator Operations duties list.
- Meet with Terminal Manager daily for instructions of activities for the day.
- Conduct Pre-Shift meetings with staff.
- Training of operational warehouse staff.
- Walk the dock looking for items out of place or freight that may have been missed for outbound delivery.
- Assign specific tasks to team members.
- Verify all courier shipments have been staged and labelled.
- Review all outbound paperwork for Carrier pick ups. Verify that everything is staged and ready to go.
- Assist with greeting all incoming drivers and ensure a dock associate is assigned to each driver.
- Ensure all received product is promptly allocated to the correct area.
- Ensure dock is clean and clear of debris.
- Read and respond to all emails.
- Adjust team member break times depending on work load.
- Ensure all incoming freight is placarded.
- Perform cycle counts provided by the warehouse admin department in a timely fashion.
- Perform customer complete inventories as requested.
- Oversee all temporary workers supplied for special projects as required.
- Enforce company security policies. Question any unfamiliar people in the warehouse and direct them to management.
- Perform maintenance of forklift equipment weekly.
- Changing the battery of the Raymond Reach equipment will be performed when the current battery reaches low status and the 2nd battery will always be left to charge to ensure up time of the equipment at all times.
- Provide assistance to the operations department when requested.
- Confirm daily inbound trailer schedule and manage dock door assignment.
- Communicate with dispatch as outbound freight lanes are filling up or oversized freight is involved. Assist dispatch with the outbound planning for efficient delivery.
- Work with supervisors on special projects.
- Ensure building security during course of shift.
- Complete time & attendance daily.
- Work with coordinators on daily workload.
- Work with Terminal Manager on KPI’s.
- Complete all reports required.
- Support other departments as required.
- Any other duties as required.
Job Specifications (Knowledge, skills and abilities):
- Forklift certification from an accredited source to operate a Raymond Reach Dock Stocker
- Planning and organizational skills
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, basic computer functions and WMS/TMS
- Motivated person who is willing to learn from training and inhouse programs
- Ability to adjust to changing, fast paced, high demand environment
- Flexibility with working hours
- Ability to multitask in a stressful environment
- Transportation experience an asset
- Experience with complex environments
- Other duties/responsibilities as assigned by management
Competencies:
- Basic understanding of Warehouse Management Systems and Transportation Management Systems
- Must be forklift certified from an accredited source or have 2 years experience operating a dock stocker, counter balance and walkie
- Strong computer skills including Office Suite and Excel
