We are currently seeking an Engineering Manager, Fluid Power to work out of our office in Guelph, Ontario.

Through our brands: Hose Technology, Multi-Flow Solutions and Hetronic Canada, we are able to offer solutions to Original Equipment Manufactures, distributors, aftermarket sales and end users. Our reputation was built in fluid conveyance, and this has since extended to fluid power and controls.
Our fluid conveyance offering ranges from end user hose replacements right through to full hydraulic conveyance kitting for some of North America’s largest OEMs. We also offer full hydraulic system servicing, both on site and in our shop. Our engineering department can help with the smallest of requests right up to designing and building large power units. Our drive to sell and service the best brands in the world has established our relationship with Hetronic Radio Remotes, by being Hetronic Canada, our clients can now lean on the UMI Group for support in radio remotes and electrical controls.
The Engineering Manager, Fluid Power will oversee the team responsible for design and development of fluid power projects. This includes mobile equipment, and industrial power systems, as well as integrated manifold solutions. The team has a specific focus on component selection, schematic generation and simulation. You will work closely with other teams and managers such as our Outside Sales, Inside Sales and product management teams. Typical responsibilities include offering guidance to the team, developing solutions and project management. You will report the status of the ongoing projects to your manager and set the plans and requirements for the team.

Responsibilities:
- Manage Fluid Power team and manage project work
- Design custom hydraulic manifolds and hydraulic power units.
- Be familiar with fluid power codes and standards in addition to the development of internal standards
- Work with mechanical team to create boms and drawings for hydraulic solutions
- Participate in engineering quoting and solutions, including applications, integration, and safety.
- Work with fluid power product manager to improve fluid power technologies.
- Complete project responsibilities within scope, budget, and schedule.
- Hiring and mentoring co-op students and new hires as deemed necessary.
- Working with your manager to recommend salaries for team members.
- Creating designs in accordance with company regulations and client standards and values.
- Provide support during all stages of the project lifecycle to ensure compliance to safety and requirements
- Develop testing procedures for hydraulic solutions
- Develop custom solutions using schematic generation tools
- Compete other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical discipline
- Experience with project management
- Experience in the field of fluid power is considered an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Highly creative, strong attention to detail, organized, self-motivated, ability to multitask. efficiently and able to work independently with within cross functional teams.
- Ability to work in a team environment and actively participate in group meetings.
- Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance.
- Maintain good corporate citizen role in support of the UMI Group vision.
- Experience with Automation Studios
