Candidates are invited to apply for the permanent full time position of Accounting Manager at the ECI Assist Corporate Office located in Markham, Ontario.
Reporting to the Director of Finance – ECI Assist, the Accounting Manager will strategically organize and plan department resources and timelines to ensure departmental goals, objectives and timelines are met while providing ongoing support and supervision to the department Accounting Supervisors and Financial Analysts.
Supervise and mentor staff (2 Supervisors + 7 Financial Analysts) to provide growth and development, and to ensure work is completed accurately on a timely basis;
Final review and approval of all client Financial Packages before submission to Owners;
Liaison with Regional Directors and Consultants to interpret financial results and analyze action plans;
Attend meetings and present financial results and budgets to major client group
Ensure all government required financial and statistical reporting related to the client homes are accurate and completed on a timely basis (including ARR’s and MIS reporting);
Liaison with internal and external auditors for client homes;
Review and prepare client budget packages and presentations for key stakeholder for approval;
Monitor Ministry of Health policy changes for financial impacts and recommend changes to accounting policies and procedures if required;
Develop and maintain a standard Financial Package and ensure templates are updated for changes in ministry funding or regulations;
Document and ensure any new procedures are implemented and internal controls are adhered to;
Create new reports and improve existing reporting for Operations Department
Transition new clients to Extendicare Assist and handle all aspects of transition, cashflow, acquisition and statement of adjustment from acquisitions;
Act as liaison and primary contact for major client group ensuring they have financial information required, and provide sound financial advice when requested;
Complete ECI Assist Department financial statements and assist in budget and forecasting for the Department;
Coordinate client banking requirements with ECI corporate office departments;
Create additional analyses and reports as requested by management.
LTC industry knowledge and experience
Strong knowledge and understanding of accounting processes; professional accounting designation (CPA)
Ability to understand and identify customers needs and explain information to various levels of users;
Ability to manage and mentor staff in a positive, cooperative environment;
Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills;
Ability to utilize time management, and multi-tasking skills to stay organized and meet deadlines;
Customer-focused attitude, with an emphasis on building and maintaining relationships;
Ability to stay focused on an overall vision while working with the details to achieve the vision;
Hands-on leadership required.
Minimum 2 years experience providing accounting support for multi facility Operations;
Minimum 1-2 years Supervisory experience;
Excellent working knowledge of the Excel is required, while working knowledge of Infinium and AS400 Query is an asset.
