The Opportunity
Reporting to the regional Operations Trainer and the assigned store’s Department Head, the Kitchen Assistant Department Head Trainee (ADHT) will undergo an intensive training program of approximately 13 weeks for the purpose of familiarizing with the operation know-how, department daily routines, management development techniques, and learn how to run a department with profit and loss accountabilities. Upon satisfactory completion of the ADHT Program, the trainees will then assume ADH responsibilities of the assigned department based on their assessment results and will be responsible to deliver ADH duties and responsibilities and to provide support to the assigned Department Heads and Store Managers.
You Will
- Maximize customer satisfaction by building rapport through a friendly smile, eye contact, and attentive service; provide excellent customer service.
- Learn and assist the Department Head in managing the assigned department's operations and achieving performance goals.
- Learn and assist the Department Head in managing merchandise, placing orders, and planning and executing promotional activities to achieve department goals.
- Learn and assist the Department Head in supervising the assigned department's daily operations and staff performance.
- Collect and analyze market information and recommend appropriate response strategies.
- Learn and assist the Department Head in monitoring product quality and freshness, ensuring the FIFO (First In, First Out) principle is strictly followed.
- Learn and assist the Department Head in conducting quality inspections of incoming merchandise and managing inventory in display cases and walk-in coolers, where applicable.
- Lead by example by performing all operational and supervisory duties required within the assigned department.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor(s).
You Should/Have
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supermarket, retail, or chain restaurant environment preferred.
- Strong interest in the supermarket and retail industry.
- Post-secondary education or above preferred.
- Accountable, proactive, flexible, and able to demonstrate leadership.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Strong verbal communication skills in English and Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Flexible to work rotating shifts, including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and statutory holidays.
- Willing and able to work at different store locations as assigned.
