Responsible for the development and implementation of services and program delivery required to create an exceptional experience for students living in residence, encourage student participation in the residence community and contribute to student success. Ensures Residence Life services and programs run smoothly and achieve the overall goals of promoting the personal, professional and social development of students, in order to have a positive impact on student retention and success while fostering a strong sense of belonging.
University degree in social sciences or a related field
Minimum of three years’ related experience
Knowledge of and experience in operational management processes and procedures
Knowledge of crisis management and conflict resolution practices as well as emergency management protocols
Knowledge of the Canadian Human Rights Act and applicable laws and regulations
Knowledge of financial and risk management principles
Knowledge of human resource management principles
Knowledge of University and residence policies, principles and codes of conduct related to personal protection and risk management
Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills
Customer service experience and skills and ability to communicate with respect, tact and discretion
Ability to train, mentor and supervise staff
Ability to manage time effectively, work under pressure and meet deadlines
Proficiency with computer systems, applications and software such as MS Office and the Internet
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Ability to travel around indoors and outdoors on campus year round in order conduct daily and weekly inspections of various facilities and to support the operations team
Ability to work outside regular working hours during peak times (evenings, weekends) and work overtime as scheduled by Housing Service
Valid first aid and CPR certifications issued by recognized Canadian organizations
Bilingualism – French and English (spoken and written); to be considered for this position, candidates must be rated at the intermediate or advanced proficiency level for both oral comprehension and reading comprehension in their second official language. The rating is determined by a proficiency test designed by the Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute.
