The Roll Off Service Dispatcher coordinates daily roll off service activity to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable customer service. This role is the central communication point between drivers, route supervisors, customer service, sales, maintenance, scale operations, and management. The dispatcher is responsible for building practical daily route plans, monitoring progress throughout the day, and adjusting quickly to real-time changes such as customer requests, blocked access, equipment issues, traffic, disposal delays, weather, and urgent service needs.
The successful candidate will be organized, calm under pressure, and focused on clear communication, route efficiency, customer service, and team coordination. This position plays a key role in optimizing fleet utilization, reducing unnecessary travel and downtime, and ensuring service commitments are completed accurately and on time.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate daily roll off service activity, including scheduled hauls, bin exchanges, deliveries, removals, emergency service, and customer-requested changes.
Build, review, and adjust daily route plans to make effective use of drivers, trucks, disposal locations, customer time windows, and available equipment.
Sequence work to reduce unnecessary mileage, empty travel, wait time, overtime, and missed service.
Act as the primary communication hub for roll off service activity, ensuring drivers, supervisors, customer service, sales, maintenance, scale staff, and management receive timely and accurate information.
Maintain regular communication with drivers regarding route changes, customer instructions, delays, safety concerns, and end-of-day priorities.
Escalate issues promptly when service commitments, customer relationships, safety, or operational efficiency may be affected.
Use dispatch systems, routing tools, GPS information, driver feedback, and operational judgment to improve route efficiency.
Re-optimize routes in real time when priorities change, including same-day requests, cancellations, blocked bins, breakdowns, disposal delays, weather impacts, or staffing changes.
Balance customer urgency with safety, operational efficiency, legal driving requirements, and available fleet capacity.
Identify recurring route inefficiencies, delays, disposal bottlenecks, or customer access issues and recommend practical improvements.
CUSTOMER SERVICE, DOCUMENTATION, AND SAFETY
Work with customer service to support accurate scheduling, service confirmations, missed service resolution, and customer follow-up.
Document service exceptions, blocked access, delays, route changes, customer instructions, and other relevant information accurately in the operating system.
Coordinate with maintenance and supervisors regarding truck availability, equipment defects, breakdowns, and service coverage impacts.
Support safe dispatching by considering driver hours, truck condition, site conditions, traffic, weather, access, and disposal requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
Previous experience in dispatch, logistics, transportation, waste management, construction, or a similar fast-paced operational environment is preferred.
Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with drivers, supervisors, customer service, sales, maintenance, scale staff, and customers.
Experience with routing, dispatch, GPS, AMCS, or similar operational systems is an asset.

COMPENSATION
The expected range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000. Placement within the range is dependent on a variety of factors including qualifications and experience.
