Job Title: Mold Designer

Reports to: Manager of Engineering
Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Mold Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years experience in designing 3D solid models of plastic injection and compression molds for automotive and non-automotive markets. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating molds that meet customer specifications and ensure high-quality parts are produced efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
Design 3D solid models of plastic injection and compression molds for automotive and non-automotive markets.
Determine molding position including line of draw according to requirements.
Perform part feasibilities and provide technical feedback to improve molding conditions.
Make any necessary/requested part changes.
Participate in design reviews.
Develop basic and advanced parting lines.
Develop basic and advanced mechanisms.
Develop full cooling circuits and ejection system.
Implement hot runner manifolds as required.
Review and implement engineering changes to existing tool designs.
Develop full BOM according to customer standards and requirements.
Prepare machining files for manufacturing as required.
Complete details for manufacturing as required.
Qualifications:
Minimum education level preferred is Grade 12 or equivalent.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the designing of Injection Mold Tooling and/or Compression Tooling.
Must have strong mathematical skills.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Good attendance record.
Good analytical skills.
Physical ability to handle all tools and equipment as necessary.
Ability to work overtime as required.
