Director of Accounting
Winnipeg, Manitoba
On behalf of our client, Taylor McCaffrey LLP, we are looking for a Director of Accounting to join their team. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and working closely with the firm’s Management Committee, in this role you are responsible for managing all aspects of the firm's financial functions. You will collaborate with leadership and act as a trusted advisor on both the administration and strategic direction of their financial programs.
As the Director of Accounting, you will:
- Lead the accounting team, fostering a collaborative work environment and ensuring staff are cross-trained for mutual support.
- Oversee all accounting functions, guiding the accounting team and setting strategic goals, priorities, and plans.
- Provide strategic management over all accounting functions.
- Perform targeted financial analysis and reporting for strategic business decisions.
- Produce summarized monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
- Direct and prioritize accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls ensuring accuracy and adherence to Canadian accounting standards and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with tax and governmental authorities and the Law Society of Manitoba's rules and regulations.
- Manage and report on cash management, working capital, and firm audits.
- Collaborate with management to produce the annual budget, highlighting variances and recommending remedial actions.
- Manage relationships with financial institutions and insurance providers.
You and Your Experience:
- CPA designation required.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in a senior financial leadership role.
- Excellent business acumen and demonstrated professional integrity.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly analytical with well-developed reasoning and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated ability to make accurate and clear assessments in a changing business landscape.
- Ability to build trusted relationships across multiple management levels and with staff.
