Job Description

Reporting to the Manager of Clinical Informatics Technical/Access/ Revenue the application analyst will use their clinical knowledge combined with their superior analytical skills to support Mackenzie health EMR (electronic medical record). Additionally, they will work closely with clinical groups to enhance and improve the current use of the computer system while maintaining system standards by analyzing business operations, prioritizing and implementing requested changes, integrated system testing, collection information and details of specifications, developing and documenting policies and procedures and ensuring they act as the liaison between end users, EMR and associated third party vendors to ensure clear communication.


  • The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in supporting large scale health care information systems and technologies. They will utilize their project management skills to execute on-time deliverables to the organization. A large focus on training is a key component in this position.
  • They will use their expertise and understanding of the organizational culture and clinical application experience in providing support in the delivery of care across the hospital
  • Participate in customizing, testing, optimizing, training and implementation of applications, upgrades and enhancements to the EMR, with a primary focus on creating and maintaining training environments and curriculums.
  • Rotational on-call support will be required

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in a clinically related field; computer science or equivalent
  • EPIC certification in Cadence an asset, or certification will be required within one year of hire
  • ITIL certification is also an asset
  • Clinical, professional designations preferred
  • Five years of hospital clinical and/or hospital information systems and EMR experience
  • Creative, analytical and strategic thinker with strong project management , work flow, problem solving and implementation skills
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills to achieve a high standard of service and performance
  • Ability to prioritize, document, lead meetings and have strong follow-up skills
  • Strong communication and conflict-management skills
  • Superior experience with MS/ Windows / Visio experience
  • Service Now experience an asset
  • Proven attendance record

  • Effectively uses empathy during interactions with others
