Litigation Legal Assistant/Paralegal Post for Dosanjh Ladner Arora
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and highly organized Legal Administrative Assistant or Paralegal for our Civil/Commercial Litigation and Family Law practice at our Vancouver office. This position will support mainly one litigator at our Vancouver BC office. The role requires a Litigation Legal Assistant or a Paralegal who has significant experience managing court documents, scheduling, and overall practice administration.
The successful candidate should be comfortable with being on site 5 days per week during regular business hours.
About the position
The ideal candidate will play a crucial role primarily in managing and organizing case files and preparing legal documents. This position requires experience working in a law firm in BC, strong writing skills, proficiency in legal management software, the ability to multi-task, and handle multiple files efficiently.
The Requirements
- Certification or diploma from an accredited institution
- 2+ years of experience as a Litigation Legal Assistant, ideally in Civil and/or Commercial Litigation
- Strong knowledge of pleadings, the civil litigation process, legal procedures (including the BC Supreme Court Civil Rules) with the ability to organize and diarize deadlines independently
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience managing a busy practice with minimal direction
- Take initiative and be curious about the litigation process
- Have experience using ESILaw, Clio, Soluno, and/or NetDocs (ideally)
Main Job Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with drafting and proofreading affidavits, pleadings, correspondence, and other court documents/forms
- Managing court filing deadlines and coordination of hearing dates
- Developing and maintaining filing systems
- Schedule hearings, discoveries, trials, and mediations, and liaise with counsel
- Assemble records/binders for court appearances
- Conduct online searches (Court Services Online, BC Online, Land Title Office)
- Manage legal files (opening/closing), handle client calls and perform general administrative tasks
- Prepare accounts, track receivables, and process accounting forms
- Maintaining up to date contact information
- Positive and effective communication with clients, lawyers and staff on various matters
- Provide general administrative support throughout the firm
Compensation:
This position offers a competitive compensation package, including:
- Salary range from $60,000 to $70,000 depending on the level of experience.
