Available Shifts: 7:00 AM – 1:00 PM and 12PM– 5:00 PM
Canuel Caterers is looking for an energetic and customer-focused Cashier / Prep Cook to join our team at the Justice Institute of BC in New Westminster. This role combines front-of-house customer service with food preparation in a busy café environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare a variety of fresh hot and cold food items, including pizza, panini, sandwiches, salads, wraps, and grab-and-go meals.
- Assist with basic food preparation and replenishment throughout the day.
- Provide friendly, professional customer service to all guests.
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system and accurately process cash, debit, and credit card transactions.
- Balance cash handling responsibilities with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Stock, organize, and maintain attractive front-of-house displays, coolers, and beverage stations.
- Ensure the café, service counters, and dining areas remain clean, organized, and well stocked.
- Follow all FoodSafe practices and health regulations to ensure safe food handling and sanitation.
- Assist with opening, closing, cleaning, and other daily café duties as required.
- Work collaboratively with the kitchen and front-of-house team to provide efficient, high-quality service.
Qualifications
- Valid FoodSafe Certificate (required).
- Previous customer service, cashier, or food service experience is an asset.
- Comfortable operating a POS system and handling cash transactions.
- Friendly, professional, and dependable with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Must successfully pass a Criminal Record Check.
