Reporting to the Manager, Treasury Risk Management (Credit), the Credit Analyst will be responsible for participating in the effective identification, quantification, monitoring, mitigation and control of prevailing Credit Risks and Liquidity Risks across all of the ATCO Business Units. The individual will be primarily responsible for credit risk adjudication to support the credit review and approval process, collateral and security management, routine & ad hoc reporting and communication of Credit concerns. The role also requires the ongoing monitoring and reporting of credit exposures in a highly confidential environment. This role is based out of Calgary, Alberta, at the ATCO Park.
WHAT YOU GET TO DO:
- Accountable for the maintenance of high-quality credit files and performance of credit analysis on new and existing counterparties to provide recommendations on credit limits and internal credit ratings (based upon financial statement analysis with credit rating reports and market data) in accordance with ATCO’s Credit Policy.
- Monitor credit exposures against approved limits and escalate breaches with recommendations for risk mitigation where appropriate.
- Manage changes in financial assurances (held and issued) in the form of Guarantees, Letters of Credit, Cash Deposits, etc.
- Perform daily reporting and reconciliation activities that may include validation of margin calls and the coordination of financial assurances.
- Networking with external customers and credit colleagues to build relationships and understand best practices in the credit industry
- Perform reporting functions of the department, including daily, weekly, or monthly reports and Credit Committee reports
- Liaison with business units on report information; reviewing any discrepancies or inconsistencies within their data
- Ensuring accurate processing and filing of original documents
- Provide support to related internal customers from Treasury to Capital Markets and External Disclosures
WHO YOU ARE:
- Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics
- Pursuing post graduate degree and/or certifications (CFA, CA, FRM, PRM) or another relevant designation is preferred
- Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in analysis, preferably in Finance
- Direct credit experience as it relates to the energy marketing space would be an asset
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to efficiently process time-sensitive requests
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Collaborative, team player with an ability to work independently.
