Established in 1982, The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation (PMCF) raises funds for Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, one of the top 5 cancer research centres in the world.

The PMCF vision is to Conquer Cancer in Our Lifetime. The Foundation enables people passionate about that vision to support it in many ways: from intimate events to epic challenges, from monthly & annual donations to tickets in the Princess Margaret Home lottery, and from Major Gifts to gifts from Estates.

About the Role

The Associate Director oversees the implementation of the estate giving marketing plan, providing education and information about the power of legacy giving, and stewarding confirmed donors. Reporting directly to the Associate Vice-President, E&GP, they provide leadership and supervision to a Development Officer.

Our successful candidate will have a passion for the cause, be a great collaborator and team player, and have outstanding communication and relationship building skills. Experience with Blackbaud CRM or another relational database is expected for this position.

You will:
Legacy Marketing activities

Drive and support identification, qualification, cultivation, and solicitation of new and existing prospects
Raise awareness of legacy giving to The PMCF and expand the prospect universe by planning and overseeing targeted marketing activities, such as online surveys, tax reduction seminars, legacy messaging in advertising and throughout Foundation communications
Spearhead outreach so the opportunity to support Princess Margaret is known to diverse communities.

Stewardship and Relationship Building

Collaborate with the Donor Impact & Accountability team to deliver meaningful stewardship for legacy promisers
Deepen relationships one-on-one with assigned legacy promisers
Oversee activities to build relationships with professional advisors to increase their awareness and respect for The PMCF

Management

Manage and provide leadership to the Development Officer, Estates and Gift Planning
Set evaluation metrics for Development Officer
Ensure data and coding is captured to support accurate analysis & reporting
Work closely with the Associate Vice-President, Estate Giving to assess, imagine and execute marketing strategies within budget for the gift planning program

You have:
Passion for our vision: To Conquer Cancer in Our Lifetime
Minimum 5 years experience in fundraising with a successful track record, ideally including gift planning
A CAGP membership is an asset
Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
University/college degree or equivalent experience
Exceptional relationship-building skills and is comfortable speaking to donors, volunteers and stakeholders about planning gifts
A high EQ, with an emphasis on empathy and diplomacy
Exceptional written and oral communications skills
Experience leading, motivating and inspiring development colleagues
Excellent decision making skills, and good judgement in difficult situations
Results orientation, you are a problem solver, dedicated to finding solutions and comfortable asking relevant questions
The ability to work effectively as part of a team, to be responsive and to meet deadlines
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Strong organizational and analytical skills
Familiarity and aptitude with fundraising database (Blackbaud CRM experience is an assets
Strict adherence to confidentiality, privacy and ethical policies
