Reporting to the Stores Supervisor or designate, the Shipper Receiver works closely with Central Stores Technical Stores Representatives and is responsible for receiving, both manually and electronically, warehousing, including cleaning and organizing, distribution, shelving and picking of parts and materials as may be required by Corporate Fleet Services, Central Operations and other Corporate Divisions of the Town of Oakville.
- Receives direction from the Stores Supervisor or designate.
- Attends to the receiving of various commodities, supplies, safety gear, traffic materials, including but not limited to, automotive parts, heavy equipment parts, agricultural and small equipment parts, hand, power, and shop machine tools, lubricants and hardware.
- Delivers and picks up or arranges for the pick-up of goods at various vendors if so directed or needed.
- Ensures that proper stock levels are maintained as per instructions/directions of Stores Supervisor or designate
- Reconciles receipt/pricing of goods with packing slip and follow up on any discrepancies within a manual or electronic system.
- Transmits messages by public address (PA), 2-way radio systems, and cellular phones.
- Provides support/operation of weigh scale and powered gate access control system(s) when required.
- Performs necessary entries, electronically and/or manually to inventory records, cost ledgers, as directed.
- Generates reports from the various computer programs as required by management or supervisory staff.
- Assists in the performance of semi-annual and year-end physical counts, reconciliation of variances and records posting.
- Perform physical balance (dips), (electronic or manual) of fuel for all related depots as required and provides data to Stores Supervisor or designate.
- Utilizes a computerized system to perform data entry and data search using a various databases, and other programs as required.
- Maintains clean, organized stockroom, with proper shelving and labeling of goods and assists / performs in the maintenance and cleaning of appropriate Stores areas.
- Maintains effective, helpful relations with staff, vendors, and other departments, ensuring ethical and professional practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Grade 12 or equivalent education
- 1 year related experience in warehousing, supply chain management, inventory management or a combination of; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Forklift experience required
- Fuel Site Operator T.S.S.A
- Propane Handling Certificate
- Must be capable of lifting up to and including 50 pounds
- TDG (Transportation Dangerous Goods) certified
- Knowledge of Microsoft software, various web browsers and Enterprise solutions such as JD Edwards or SAP software is an asset.
- Mathematical competencies for reconciliation of invoices, price checking, measuring areas, using percentages, ratios, averages, formulas and conversions.
- Demonstrated effective organizational, communication, both oral and written, customer service (public and staff) and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient time management skills and an ability to multi-task are essential.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Must hold and provide a copy of a valid and unrestricted Ontario Driver’s License Class G minimum (standard and automatic transmission) with a driving record that demonstrates responsible and safe driving behavior. Note: Applicants with 6 or more points are ineligible for consideration. The successful applicant, who is a new hire, will be required to provide the Corporation with a current drivers abstract (no older than 30 days) and pass a Town administered road test prior to assuming the position.
