Position Overview:
The Barista & Retail Associate is responsible for providing exceptional guest service within the resort's coffee shop and retail space. This position prepares and serves coffee beverages, specialty drinks, baked goods, and other prepared food items while also assisting guests with retail purchases and processing transactions. The role requires a strong commitment to customer service, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain a welcoming and efficient environment for resort guests.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Service
- Provide friendly, professional, and attentive service to all guests.
- Greet guests and respond to inquiries regarding menu offerings, retail merchandise, and resort amenities as appropriate.
- Create a positive guest experience by anticipating needs and resolving concerns in a timely manner.
Beverage and Food Service
- Prepare and serve coffee beverages, espresso-based drinks, teas, and other specialty beverages according to established standards.
- Serve baked goods, grab-and-go items, and other prepared food products.
- Ensure food and beverage presentation meets quality and brand standards.
- Monitor product freshness and notify supervisors of inventory or quality concerns.
Retail and Cash Handling
- Operate the point-of-sale system for food, beverage, and retail transactions.
- Process cash, debit, credit card, and room charge transactions accurately.
- Assist guests with retail merchandise selections and purchases.
- Maintain organized and attractive retail displays and merchandise areas.
Operations and Maintenance
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all cafe, food service, and retail areas.
- Restock supplies, food products, beverages, and retail merchandise as required.
- Follow established food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
- Assist with opening and closing duties, including cleaning, inventory replenishment, and cash reconciliation as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- Previous barista experience preferred.
- Previous customer service experience required.
- Experience in hospitality, food service, retail, or a related environment is considered an asset.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members.
- Ability to operate point-of-sale systems and handle cash transactions accurately.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
