Reporting to the Director National Fleet the Regional Fleet Manager is responsible for supporting all Fleet Maintenance, licensing, parts and vendor service activities supporting the Purolator field, Air ,Ground & Linehaul operations. Major duties include , Fleet regulatory compliance, Fleet supervision and staffing of Purolator multiple Fleet Maintenance Facilities, preparation and management of Region Budgets, technician training , shop tools , Safety practices, office supplies and Fuel for all vehicles in the Eastern Canada Fleet Region. (Cornwall to Newfoundland) Bilingual (French/English). This position is based in Montreal (St. Laurent).
Duties will include:
Maintain , assess employee productivity by standardizing times for repairs reducing vehicle downtime and allowing for timely scheduling of repairs and Preventative Maintenance, reducing overall downtime and minimizing service delays to our field operations.
Manage / maintain a fleet in excess of 1,300 including Class 8 tractors, Trailers and P&D vehicles
Responsible for 14 in-house Purolator shops with a total maintenance and support staff of app. 63 personnel.
Maintain a fleet to Purolator set standards through either in-house or outsourced maintenance. This fleet could be powered by any of these fuel types, gasoline, diesel, HEV or Full EV
Meet and maintain Fleet quality Objectives by adhering to standard repair times and service schedules, providing safe, reliable, regulatory compliant and a cost effective fleet to service the customer.
Improve Processes by reviewing and continuous improvement of Key Process indicators for service and productivity enhancements.
Execute and effectively sustain change by getting employee feedback and regular communication , enhances employee morale and supports the value of our people first philosophy
Ensure Department Health and Safety targets are met through employee awareness , employee PPE , adherence to corporate and department safety policies and participation this reduces claims and insurance costs to the company. Manage costs and budgets by weekly expenditure reports to be able to control maintenance cost and meet expense plan
Ability to Train , Mentor employees for succession planning for future growth within the organization
Plan and regularly travel to all the sites across the Eastern Canada Region to meet with partner service vendors and in-house technicians, audit all locations and ensure Purolator policies are followed and adhered to.
Meet with operations management (terminals) and drivers to address any fleet related concerns and communicate any changes and concerns to upper fleet management.
All other duties as assigned
Minimum College diploma or equivalent training in automotive systems and components, usually in a related field as a service technician.
Previous experience in managing a large truck fleet
Licensed Automotive Service Technician or Truck and Coach Technician.
Class T and Class S automotive license would be a benefit
Some regulatory training and basic legal course for highway traffic act and national safety code understanding as it relates to the automotive field
Organizational and scheduling skills required to run and maintain a cost effective and productive shop
Prior experience with or training in Finance, team building, people management and Health & Safety
working knowledge of Budgets and finance
Knowledge of fleet maintenance systems.
Strong training and mentoring skills.
Excellent analytical and time management skills.
Ability to motivate and lead.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Industry affiliations within transportation and trucking would be an asset.
Ability to travel nationally as required
This is a Bilingual (French / English) position proficient in writing and reading both languages.
Location: Office is located in Montreal area (St-Laurent) butthe person is responsible for all Eastern Canada (from Cornwall to Newfoundland)
