Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, optimizing, and sustaining manufacturing processes that support the safe, efficient, and cost-effective production of automotive components and assemblies. Working within a Tier 1 automotive manufacturing environment, this position plays a key role in driving operational excellence through process improvement, equipment optimization, automation, capacity planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechatronics Engineering or College diploma in related field with combination of significant manufacturing engineering experience.
Work Experience:
5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Experience supporting automotive production processes within a Tier 1 automotive manufacturing facility, developing, implementing, troubleshooting and improving manufacturing processes and production systems.
Subject matter expert in one of the following: Automated assembly, Robotics and automation, Welding, Stamping, Machining or Injection Molding.

Physical Abilities:
The Manufacturing Engineer must be able to work effectively in both office and manufacturing environments and perform frequent walking, standing, bending, and movement throughout production facilities. The incumbent must be capable of conducting equipment evaluations, process observations, manufacturing trials, and hands-on troubleshooting activities. Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs. (11 kg). Domestic and international travel may be required.
Responsibilities and Authorities
- Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for new and existing products
- Design and improve production workflows, workstations, tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing methods
- Establish process parameters, cycle times, and production standards
- Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures
- Support global standardization of manufacturing practices across facilities
- Develop specifications for manufacturing equipment, tooling, and automation systems
- Support capital expenditure planning and budget development
- Coordinate equipment procurement, installation, commissioning, and validation
- Monitor project timelines, costs, and deliverables
- Participate in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities
- Develop manufacturing processes and equipment requirements for new product launches
- Support Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) development and updates
- Coordinate Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities
- Support engineering changes and product design modifications
Automation and Technology
- Identify and evaluate opportunities for automation and advanced manufacturing technologies
- Support robotics, automated assembly, material handling, and vision system applications
- Participate in equipment design reviews and acceptance testing
- Collaborate with equipment suppliers and integrators on implementation projects
Continuous Improvement
- Lead Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives
- Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and manufacturing performance metrics
- Drive scrap, rework, downtime, and cycle time reduction projects
- Improve process capability and manufacturing stability
- Support operational teams in resolving production challenges
Health, Safety & Wellness
- Prioritize safety and comply with the Health and Safety Management System.
- Support risk reduction, hazard identification, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and wellness legislation and KSR standards.
- Uphold and adhere to the KSR Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.
Environmental
- Promote the global Environmental Management System with a focus on footprint reduction, recycling, and resource efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and KSR standards.
