As an Electrical Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in developing our WatchDog remote monitoring product, focusing on designing, building, and programming hardware boards that collect and transmit crucial data from well sites. From configuration to troubleshooting, your expertise will be instrumental in delivering top-notch customer support.
The ideal candidate will be innovative, detail-oriented, and passionate about problem-solving. They should have a strong understanding of electronics, and experience in both hardware design and firmware development.
Role & Responsibilities:
Hardware Design:
- Design and develop custom hardware boards using schematic capture and PCB layout tools.
- Select appropriate components (microcontrollers, sensors, communication modules) for optimal performance and reliability in harsh wellsite environments.
- Prototype and test hardware designs to ensure functionality and compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborate with senior engineers on the design and development process, gathering requirements, creating solution proposals, and implementing solutions.
- Create testing solutions and platforms to ensure quality in mass production.
Firmware Development:
- Write and maintain firmware (C/C++) for microcontrollers for existing and new WatchDog product lines.
- Develop testing procedures and tools to ensure firmware quality and robustness.
Product Integration:
- Work closely with the software team to ensure seamless integration of hardware and firmware with the WatchDog cloud platform.
- Assist with field testing and troubleshooting of the WatchDog product.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the WatchDog product line based on user feedback and evolving industry needs.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in hardware design, including schematic capture, PCB layout, and prototyping. Experience with Class 1 Division 1 certified products is a definite asset.
- Eng designation is a definite asset.
- 3+ years of experience in embedded firmware development using C/C++.
- Experience with microcontrollers (e.g., ARM Cortex-M series) and communication protocols.
- Experience with CAD or 3D Drawing Software (SolidWorks).
