Mine Engineering Co-Op (12 – 16 Month Term)

An exciting chance to work as a member of the Mining Team group at an active uranium mine, offering hands-on engineering experience!
As a student under the direct supervision of the Mine Technical Service General Supervisor, you will gain valuable experience in supporting mine operations and optimization through a variety of engineering tasks. This role offers a chance to work on a variety of tasks including sample collection, data management, equipment troubleshooting, and more, while contributing to the design and improvement of mine equipment and facilities. Responsibilities include:
- Participate in sample collection and preparation, data entry and compilation, reconciliation, and other related tasks
- Assist in the design, material selection, procurement, installation, and commissioning of mine equipment and supporting facilities
- Assist in technical troubleshooting, analysis, and inspection of operational equipment
- Assist with the management of facility changes and supporting documents, completing drawings, quality documents, and mine master data updates
- Embrace and support Operational Excellence efforts and OE Culture

Skills and Qualifications for the position include:
- Enrolled in an Engineering or Geology program and returning to school following the summer program.
o Preference will be given to students enrolled in Mine/Mechanical/Geological disciplines
- Ability to interact with the public and co-workers
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Flexibility to adapt to changing objectives
- Position requires a self-starting individual who is enthusiastic and passionate
Work Location & Schedule:
- 14 day in/ 14 day out rotating schedule
- Normally an 11-hour workday, although some activity outside of normal working hours may be required
Pick-Up Points: Saskatoon, Prince Albert, La Ronge, Buffalo Narrows and the designated communities in the Athabasca region of Uranium City, Stony Rapids, Fond du Lac, and Wollaston.
As a condition of employment the successful candidate must complete Orano’s pre-employment checks including education verification and employment reference checks.
Drug (including marijuana) and alcohol substance testing is a requirement for all Safety Sensitive positions. Applicants who have recently used marijuana recreationally may not pass a substance test as marijuana can remain in the user’s system for as many as 30 days after use.
