The Senior Analyst - Health Economics leads advanced economic analysis for projects including data extractions, linkages, recoding, analysis, modeling, and interpretation. Oversees the development, quality and maintenance of economic specific databases. Assists in the design of studies and development of research protocols; Provides health economics expertise to scientists, physicians, and administrative and analytical staff related to the development of questions, design of research studies, the application of appropriate methodologies, data collection and standards; Provides data, information and research evidence to support critical decision making regarding economic value for programs and services within Population and Public Health portfolio and the Population, Public, and Indigenous Health Strategic Clinical Network (PPIH SCN); Prepares analytical reports and background/discussion papers related to assigned and lead research studies; Participates in grant preparation for Unit-specific studies; Collects, maintains, compiles, synthesizes, interprets, analyzes and reports primary and secondary data; Participates in the dissemination of key findings critical for decision making in the portfolio; Contributes to the preparation of written and oral presentations, summaries, reports, journal articles, manuscripts, etc. Presents research evidence in meetings and seminars within AHS; Fosters communication with partners inside AHS; Works collaboratively with other AHS programs and services in PPIH and the PPIH SCN to ensure that programming initiatives are built on current evidence as well as generating new practice-based evidence; Collaborates with staff and physicians in AHS to define issues, scope projects, and design investigations; Assists with the management and inventory of databases with the potential for research and administrative analysis.

Required Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in health economics or economics with health background plus a minimum of 3 years’ experience undertaking economic analyses in a health related field. A minimum of 3 years in a health care organization of significant size, complexity and diversity.

Additional Required Qualifications:
Excellent knowledge of economic methodologies, approaches and analyses. Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills. Experience coordinating multidisciplinary projects that involved multiple stakeholders. Ability to design clear procedures for collecting, cleaning and reporting data. Ability to conduct comprehensive searches of literature (academic and non-academic) and strong critical appraisal skills. Proven ability to collaborate with administrators, researchers and planners. Strong ability to plan, organize and manage short and long term plans and projects and deliver customer-focused results. Excellent analytical and decision-making skills. Strong skills working with economic modelling software such as TreeAge (other statistical software will be considered). Demonstrated ability to work well in a high-paced team setting and independently.

Preferred Qualifications:
A PhD degree is an asset. Healthcare experience an asset.
