The Merritt & District Chamber of Commerce is excited to offer a flexible, energized, and multi-faceted work environment to the right candidate for a min of an 8-week contract position.
You will be employed Monday to Friday for a min of a 30-hour work week with flexible hours July -September 2020. This could be extended should funding be available. As this position is funded in part by the Government of Canada Summer Jobs Grant, the successful applicant must be:
(a) between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment.
(b) a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident,
(c) legally entitled to work in Canada
Additionally, due to social distancing and provincial restrictions, Location of work will very from your home and other offices and locations in the Municipality of Merritt as required.
We are looking for an individual that is a self-starter with strong web design and Communications skills. (email, telephone and social distance in person). Creativity and problem solving are important, as well as accountability and attention to detail. You will be working with our valued members and act as a representative and “Face of the Merritt & District Chamber of Commerce” to the community for the duration of the contract.

Summer Jobs Position
Monday – Friday, up to 30 hours per week. Some possibility of occasional weekend hours
- Provide assistance to the Chair and other members, such as general correspondence, email communication, data entry, document revisions, Social Media posting, Community Project planning and facilitating with Volunteers, Chamber awareness and Membership drive and involvement.
- Website maintenance and design - Graphic design. -M&DCoC Member promotional program development and execution
- Participation in committees and Community programs for Merritt Business Membership. Skills required: Outgoing, personable, self-motivated, ability to adapt to changing conditions, strong written and verbal communication skills, strong computer skills. Graphic design and/ or web design experience. Individual must be professional, punctual, and well organized. Must be able to work independently with little to no supervision, as well as in a team environment. Having own laptop or desktop computer with internet access is an asset. Must be proficient in use of Microsoft Office 365 programs.
