Quality Manager
As we expand our production, Aqualitas is looking for an experienced and self-motivated Manager of Quality Assurance/QAP to establish, update and implement quality measures to ensure our compliance with Good Production Practices and applicable legislation/regulations, to support the health of our fish, the growth of our plants and ultimately the quality of our cannabis. Working closely with our Operational team, the Quality Assurance Manager will support production quality through the development, implementation and continuous improvement of policies, procedures systems which are responsive to our regulatory, customer and Aqualitas’ own standards. Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Head of Aqualitas your work will include but not be limited to the following:

Quality Assurance: Oversee quality assurance as per applicable legislation and ensure compliance with Health Canada’s guidelines pertaining to production, pest control, sanitation, processing, packaging, labeling, and Good Production Practices.

Process Development and Implementation: Establish and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Documentation Practices (GDP), Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), audit and Quality Assurance standards including compliance with the Cannabis Act and Regulations and provide guidance and support to other departments to ensure compliance.

Batch Approval: Manage batch approval and release process, including final review of documents and interim and final test results. Prepare and maintain batch records.

Documentation and Record Keeping: Research and remain up to date on regulatory and industry requirements and best practices. Prepare and manage quality assurance documentation, ensure SOPs and other internal documents reflect those requirements in terms that are clear, current and compliant. Ensure records relating to production, packaging, sanitation, and inspection are retained and organized.

Health Canada and GMP Liaison: Report to Health Canada and customers/distributors on required metrics and outcomes including quality and adverse reactions. Participate in inspections and ensure facility is prepared for any unannounced inspections.

Staff Management: Manage and coordinate quality assurance staff, providing direction as necessary. Develop and provide training to other staff to ensure their understanding of quality requirements.

Quality Leadership and Collaboration: Liaise with other departments to ensure systems, processes, practices and recommended improvements are compliant with Health Canada, GMP, GAP, GPP and Aqualitas’ requirements.

Quality Control and Complaint Handling: Oversee or complete inspection of material, and report as required. Investigate quality complaints and take necessary corrective/preventative actions. Conduct product recalls as necessary and support appropriate reporting to Health Canada.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in biological or chemical science, pharmacy, food or a related field is required

Previous Health Canada Security Clearance considered an asset. Ability to obtain and maintain Security Clearance required.

Must have the ability to obtain QAP or alternate QAP status under applicable law and regulations.

5+ years of experience as a Quality Assurance Manager (or equivalent) preferably in a cannabis, cGMP, HACCP, or GAP regulated environment.
Skill Requirements:

Direct experience participating in managing, or conducting quality controls, audits and inspections.

Experience in managing people

Proficiency with quality management systems, documentation, testing methods.

Experience establishing and maintaining version-controlled standards, policies, procedures and workflows.

Demonstrated ability to document practices and, procedures and policies which are clear and compliant.

Working knowledge of relevant national and international practices, regulations and legislation including the Cannabis Act and Regulations, cGMP/GPP, euGMP/GACP/GDP standards, ICH Quality Guidelines and FDA requirements considered an asset.

Experience with extraction, oil processing, hard and soft-shell encapsulation
