The Career.
As a Housekeeping Supervisor at a V!VA Retirement Community, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the housekeeping and laundry departments while supporting a culture of excellence, accountability, and teamwork.
Reporting to the Assistant Community Director, you will supervise, coach, and support Team Members to ensure Community Members, guests, and Team Members enjoy a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. You will assist with scheduling, training, quality assurance, inventory management, infection prevention and control practices, and department compliance while maintaining exceptional customer service standards throughout the community.
You will work closely with other departments to support Community Member satisfaction and ensure operational excellence across all housekeeping and laundry functions.
You will serve as a role model for V!VA's Values and Culture, creating an environment where Community Members, guests, and Team Members feel welcomed, respected, and valued.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, organize, supervise, and support the daily operations of the housekeeping and laundry departments
Lead, coach, support, onboard, train, and develop housekeeping and laundry Team Members
Create and manage schedules, assignments, attendance, and departmental coverage to ensure operational needs are met
Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure cleanliness and service standards are consistently achieved
Complete departmental audits and monitor compliance with V!VA policies, procedures, and safety standards
Monitor inventory, equipment, and supplies and coordinate orders as required
Ensure housekeeping and laundry services are delivered in accordance with established operational, infection prevention and customer service standards
Ensure suites, common areas, dining venues, and back-of-house areas are maintained to V!VA standards
Coordinate suite turnovers and move-in readiness in collaboration with the Move-In Coordinator and other departments
Ensure infection prevention and control practices are followed and enhanced during outbreaks when required
Maintain departmental records, checklists, and compliance requirements
Maintain accurate health and safety records and ensure MSDS information remains current and accessible
Identify and report maintenance, safety, and environmental concerns
Foster positive relationships with Community Members, guests, families, and Team Members
Support emergency response procedures and assume a leadership role during fire alarms, evacuations, and other emergency situations when required
Promote a culture of health and safety and support emergency preparedness procedures
Participate in community meetings, training, and continuous improvement initiatives
Other duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in housekeeping operations within retirement living, hospitality, healthcare, or a related environment
Previous supervisory or leadership experience required, preferably within retirement living, hospitality, healthcare, or a related environment
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time-management abilities
Demonstrated ability to promote a positive, customer service-focused culture
- Ability to lead, motivate, coach, and develop Team Members
- Knowledge of cleaning procedures, laundry operations, infection prevention and control practices, and health and safety standards
- Ability to communicate clearly with peers and subordinates
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Valid CPR/First Aid certification is considered an asset
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Screening ( VSS) required
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and statutory holidays
- Available for call-ins and emergency coverage when required
- Able to bend, stretch, sit, stand, and lift up to 50 lbs
- Able to effectively communicate in verbal and written English
