Front of House Server - C'est Tout (Downtown Smiths Falls)
$19/hour + tip pool | Daytime hours | Tuesday - Saturday
C'est Tout is a scratch-made bakery and café on Beckwith Street. The food matters to us, but so does everything around it - the welcome at the door, the regular whose order you remember, the table that lingers a little longer because it felt good to be there. We're looking for someone who understands that hospitality is the actual job, and that the plates and the coffee are how you deliver it.
The heart of the role
- Welcome every guest like you're glad they came in - because you are
- Read a table: who's in a rush, who wants to chat, who needs a recommendation and doesn't want to ask
- Learn our regulars - their names, their orders, their kids
- Guide guests through the menu with real knowledge, including allergens and what's new this season
- Turn a problem into a good story: handle a wrong order or a long wait with grace and a fix
- Make people feel taken care of from the first hello to the goodbye at the door
The craft behind it
- Serve breakfast, lunch, and all-day Saturday brunch
- Make espresso drinks, teas, and specialty beverages (full training provided - no barista experience needed)
- Take custom bakery orders, catering pickups, and special requests with care and accuracy
- Run the POS and handle payments cleanly
- Merchandise the pastry case so it looks as good as it tastes
- Open and close the room: setting up, bussing, restocking, resetting for the next day
- Work in step with the kitchen and baking team so service flows
What we're looking for
- Genuine warmth - this can't be trained, and it's the thing we care most about
- Strong communicator with guests and teammates alike
- Composed in a rush; keeps the warmth even when the room is full
- Anticipates rather than reacts - sees the empty water glass before it's mentioned
- Team-first: jumps in wherever the gap is
- Open to coaching and interested in getting better at the craft of service
- Reliable and punctual - a small team feels every absence
- Café, restaurant, or retail experience is an asset, not a requirement
Schedule
- Tuesday to Saturday availability required
- Shifts fall between 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM
- Closed Sundays and Mondays - your evenings and long weekends are yours
