We are currently seeking a Mining Operations Assistant Superintendent to join our team. This is a full time permanent role at our Atlantic Operations Touquoy mine in Middle Musquodoboit. This opportunity is offered on a 4 days on, 3 days off schedule working 10 hour shifts. Reporting to the Superintendent of Mine Operations, your role will be responsible for assisting the Superintendent Mining in leading the Mine Operations Team in daily operation with a safety-first mindset, planning and executing work activities to safely meet production schedules, mining sequences and to provided support to other areas of the business as requested.
Ensuring and monitoring safety in the workplace by identifying and addressing hazards, participating in improving safety and ensuring all reporting requirements are completed.
Promoting a strong safety culture through coaching and field interactions.
Ensuring all planned tasks are completed safely and in accordance to safety standards set out by St Barbara and local Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) laws.
Communicating safety statistics or other important information back to the team.
Attending daily planning meetings with mine planning team, adjust daily/weekly operations plan and communicate task priority changes to Supervisors based on this.
Collaborating with members of other departments as required to ensure all support activities are coordinated around the safe operation of the mine with minimal impact to efficiency.
Identifying training needs and coordinate training in consultation with the Superintendent Mine Operations.
Assisting Superintendent Mine Operations with crew management, reviewing resumes, interviews, etc. and work with Human Resources to facilitate recruitment based on the needs identified by Mine management.
Identifying and communicate long-term equipment and infrastructure needs to mine management.

At least 5 years relevant mine operations experience.
Good written and oral communication skills.

Strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to pass a background check.
Valid Drivers License.
