JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Program Manager or designate, the Unit Aide is accountable to the Renal Dialysis Team for assisting with patient care in an antiseptic environment throughout the Hemodialysis experience (i.e. positioning of patients, retrieving equipment or supplies, etc., pre and post-portering of patients or machines from the critical care areas). The Unit Aide must be able to follow detailed instructions and will be trained to have significant knowledge of the assembly and dismantling of Hemodialysis equipment. Other duties as assigned. The Unit Aide complies with Occupational Health and Safety Standards for the hospital and is proactive in
promoting a safe work environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Able to meet the significant demands associated with both patient care and the use of Hemodialysis equipment.
Must be willing and available to work at satellite locations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with all patients, staff and visitors.
Able to adapt to a changing environment including emergency situations.
Flexibility and responsiveness to the needs of the patient and care team, as directed by the Program Manager or designate;
Willing to participate in process improvement.
Committed to the values of the organization.
Previous patient care experience and Safe Patient Handling - preferred
Demonstrate knowledge of proper body mechanics for lifting, transporting and ambulating patients - required
EDUCATION/TRAINING EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Grade 12 Diploma or GED Certificate
