Unit Summary

Communications & Public Affairs staff members are responsible for the formal internal and external communications programs at Hamilton Health Sciences, serving as communications consultants to the hospital and its leadership. The department's responsibilities include the strategic execution of internal and external communications strategies, media relations activities, crisis management response and planning, community and government relations, web development, event planning, corporate publication production, and branding and marketing strategies. Within these areas of focus, our team of highly skilled professionals plan, implement, monitor, analyze and measure the effectiveness of strategic communications activities on a daily basis.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Digital Communications Lead, the Multimedia Assistant collaborates with and executes the technical production for all activities undertaken by the Communications & Public Affairs (CP&A) department for Hamilton Health Sciences.

They are responsible for creating content that supports initiatives, corporate projects, and all other video, photography, and minor graphic design needs of the CP&A department.
Additionally, this role will support internal projects requested by other HHS departments that require journalistic, brand-representing photography and video production.

Schedule Work Hours

Monday to Friday; days (Flexibility to work after hours and on weekends)

Qualifications

  • College or university diploma/degree in journalism, multimedia production, photography, or film, in combination with additional education and/or relevant experience
  • 2+ years experience in creating digital content for a comparible organization
  • Evident commitment to continuous learning
  • Evident track record of success working in teams
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication, team building, and the ability to initiate and model positive change
  • Strong creative and design instincts
  • Video production and editing experience
  • Photography and editing experience
  • Understanding of basic graphic design
  • Goal oriented
  • Is willing to work after hours, on weekends and to be on-call
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, InDesign)
  • Must have an online portfolio demonstrating abilities in video production and photography
