Are you the person everyone calls when something needs to get done?
Sheepwash Contracting & Design Inc. is looking for a high-performing, experienced Multi-Trade Carpenter / Lead Hand who can take ownership of a job and get it done right.
We're looking for someone with 10+ years of construction experience who is genuinely skilled across multiple areas of construction and renovation.
You don't need to know absolutely everything — but you need to be the person who can walk onto a job, assess what needs to happen, figure out the best way to do it, and get to work.
This is not a position for someone who needs to be told what to do every step of the way.
We're looking for someone who is self-sufficient, accountable, mechanically minded, detail-oriented and takes pride in their work.

What You'll Be Doing
You'll work on a variety of projects and should be comfortable jumping between different types of construction and renovation work.
Your skills should include several of the following:
- Carpentry and general framing
- Drywall installation and repair
- Taping, mudding and finishing
- Interior and exterior painting
- Tile installation and preparation
- Concrete forming
- Concrete cutting and demolition
- Concrete repair and preparation
- Flooring and finish work
- Doors, trim and millwork
- General demolition and site preparation
- Caulking, sealing and finishing
- General repairs and maintenance
- Reading plans, drawings and measurements
- Safely operating hand and power tools
- Identifying deficiencies and determining practical solutions
Lead Hand Responsibilities
You will be expected to take ownership of assigned jobs and work with minimal supervision.
This includes:
- Assessing the work required and determining what materials, tools and equipment are needed
- Planning and organizing your own work
- Taking the lead on projects and service calls
- Solving problems independently in the field
- Coordinating with the owner, foremen, trades, subcontractors and other team members
- Providing direction and support to less-experienced employees when required
- Communicating job progress, material requirements and any issues that arise
- Taking photos and providing updates as required
- Identifying and addressing deficiencies before leaving a job
- Maintaining a clean, organized and professional job site
- Representing Sheepwash Contracting & Design professionally with customers
Company Vehicle, Tools & Equipment
A company van will be provided for this position.
You will be responsible for:
- Safe and responsible operation of the vehicle
- Keeping the vehicle clean and organized
- Maintaining an organized inventory of tools and supplies
- Properly securing materials, tools and equipment
- Reporting maintenance requirements, damage or missing equipment
- Taking pride in the condition of the vehicle and company property
Power tools are provided, so you can focus on doing the work rather than supplying an entire professional tool inventory.

- Has 10+ years of construction experience
- Is highly skilled across multiple trades
- Can work independently without constant supervision
- Takes ownership and accountability for their work
- Has excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

- Can read plans and drawings
- Can accurately measure and plan work
- Works efficiently while maintaining quality
- Is reliable, punctual and organized
- Communicates well with customers, coworkers and management

- Is willing to mentor less-experienced team members

- Is comfortable working in residential, commercial and industrial environments

Driver's Licence & Travel
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence required
- Clean driving record required
- Must be comfortable driving a company vehicle
- Must be comfortable travelling to different job sites
- Some out-of-town work and extended driving may be required
Physical Requirements
This is a physically demanding construction position. You must be able to:
- Lift and carry 25–50 lbs regularly
- Work from ladders and at heights
- Bend, kneel, crouch and work in confined or awkward positions
- Stand and work on your feet for extended periods
- Climb, reach and perform repetitive tasks
- Work on uneven surfaces
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Work safely around dust, noise, machinery and construction materials

Compensation
$35.00–$42.00 per hour, based on experience, demonstrated skill level and overall qualifications.
The $42/hour range is intended for exceptional candidates who demonstrate strong multi-trade ability, leadership, independence, problem-solving skills and the ability to take full ownership of projects.
