Position Summary
The Supply Chain Specialist supports end-to-end supply chain operations, ensuring the timely and cost-effective flow of materials and products from suppliers through production, warehousing, and distribution. This role coordinates purchasing, inventory, logistics, supplier activities, and order fulfillment while maintaining accurate data and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate purchasing activities, including purchase orders, supplier confirmations, delivery schedules, and follow-up on outstanding orders.
- Monitor inventory levels, lead times, and demand requirements to maintain appropriate stock levels and minimize shortages and excess inventory.
- Work closely with suppliers to resolve delivery, quality, pricing, and availability issues.
- Coordinate inbound and outbound transportation, including freight scheduling, shipment tracking, and carrier communication.
- Support demand and supply planning by analyzing forecasts, sales requirements, inventory levels, and production needs.
- Maintain accurate supply chain data, including item information, supplier records, lead times, pricing, and inventory parameters within the ERP system.
- Monitor and report key supply chain KPIs such as inventory levels, supplier performance, on-time delivery, freight costs, and order fulfillment.
- Collaborate with Procurement, Operations, Warehouse, Production, Sales, and Finance teams to ensure alignment across the supply chain.
- Identify supply chain risks and proactively communicate potential shortages, delays, or other disruptions.
- Support supplier onboarding, qualification, performance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with logistics and freight cost optimization by evaluating shipping methods, carriers, and transportation requirements.
- Ensure purchase orders, shipments, inventory transactions, and related documentation are accurate and completed in a timely manner.
- Support cycle counts, inventory reconciliations, and investigation of inventory discrepancies.
- Assist with customs, import/export documentation, and compliance requirements as applicable.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce costs, increase efficiency, and improve customer service.
- Prepare reports, analysis, and recommendations to support supply chain decision-making.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or college diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Operations, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in supply chain, procurement, logistics, inventory management, or a related function.
- Experience working with ERP systems and strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and relationship-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working with suppliers, carriers, and cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of inventory management, purchasing, transportation, and supply planning processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- APICS/ASCM certification or other supply chain designation is an asset.
- Experience with NetSuite or another ERP/WMS platform.
- Experience in a manufacturing, consumer goods, or distribution environment.
- Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP, and data analysis.
