Niagara Clifton Group is currently seeking to fill one open Maintenance Technician position. Compensation for this role starts at $20.00 per hour and will be based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for the hands-on maintenance of all building systems, assets, guest rooms, public spaces, operating equipment and property grounds. This position is vital to the organization’s success with the overall goal to maximize our customer and guest experience.
Responsibilities:
· Perform preventive maintenance and repair work on guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house facilities, and equipment;
· Execute tasks such as HVAC, electrical and plumbing, bathroom fixtures, grouting, caulking and tile, paint and wallpaper, flooring and carpet, fixture replacements, door systems to ensure amenities are in good working order. Concrete patching may be required as necessary;
· Ensure all grounds and buildings are properly maintained and present a professional appearance to the public and are safe for guest use, which include, but is not limited to, cutting grass, trimming trees, planting and maintaining flowers, raking leaves, sweeping, cleaning and hosing sidewalks and driveways, picking up litter, salting, sanding and shoveling;
· Respond to guest service requests in a timely and courteous manner;
· Conduct routine inspections of the property to identify and resolve maintenance issues;
· Follow safety procedures and maintain compliance with health and safety standards;
· Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and spare parts;
· Log work orders, completed tasks, and maintenance activities accurately; and
· Collaborate with other departments including Housekeeping, Front Office, Food & Beverage, Attractions, Administration, and Retail to minimize guest disruption and support efficient, company-wide operations.
· Ensure kitchen equipment remains fully functional by performing regular inspections, routine maintenance, and minor repairs as needed;
· Be knowledgeable in fire safety systems and ensure the safety of guests and staff by strictly adhering to fire code regulations.
· Adhere to health and safety practices, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
· Carry out additional duties as requested by Maintenance Management to support overall operations.
Skills:
· Excellent with troubleshooting and problem solving;
· Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry systems;
· Ability to operate and maintain hand and power tools safely;
· Experience with equipment troubleshooting and repair;
· Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices;
· Ability to quickly identify issues and determine effective solutions;
· Adaptability to handle a wide range of maintenance tasks;
· Strong understanding of workplace safety protocols;
· Knowledge of fire safety, health and safety regulations, and compliance standards;
· Good verbal and written communication skills;
· Ability to collaborate effectively with other departments;
· Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently;
· Capability to handle multiple tasks and work under minimal supervision;
· Good manual dexterity and physical stamina;
· Ability to lift heavy objects, stand, bend, and work in confined spaces;
· Careful and thorough in inspections, repairs, and record-keeping; and
· Courteous and professional when responding to guest or staff requests.
Experience/Qualifications:
· Minimum of 5+ years hands-on experience in general maintenance within institutional or industrial building environments.
· Proven experience with HVAC systems is required;
· Experience in plumbing, electrical, and/or mechanical work is a strong asset;
· Excellent problem-solving skills with a practical, solutions-oriented approach;
· Strong verbal and written communication skills;
· Ability to multi-task effectively and establish clear priorities;
· High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability in a dynamic work environment;
· Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize a diverse workload efficiently; and
· Ability to work shifts including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and participate in on-call rotations as required.
