Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Residential Real Estate Paralegal or Legal Assistant to support our legal team. This role involves managing residential real estate transactions from start to finish, including purchase and sales, refinancings and closing procedures in Alberta.
The ideal candidate will possess a proven record of residential real estate experience, demonstrating exceptional attention to detail, strong knowledge of Alberta Land Titles and conveyancing procedures and the ability to manage multiple transactions efficiently while delivering outstanding client service.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review residential real estate documents including but not limited to: purchase/sale agreements, mortgage instructions, title searches and closing packages.
- Manage residential real estate files from opening to closing.
- Communicate with clients, lenders, and real estate agents to ensure smooth transactions.
- Draft correspondence and maintain accurate file documentation.
- Handle trust accounting and disbursements in compliance with Law Society of Alberta regulations.
- Monitor deadlines and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Provide administrative support as needed.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in residential real estate law.
- Knowledge and proficiency with real estate law and processes in Alberta.
- Proficiency with Clio, Prolegis, Land Titles, conveyancing procedures and SPIN.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple files and closings simultaneously.
- Excellent writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence.
- Proficiency in document review, proofreading and data entry tasks.
- Exceptional phone etiquette and clerical skills for effective client communication.
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently within a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of Law Society trust accounting rules is an asset.
- British Columbia real estate experience (nice-to-have).
