Purpose:
Reporting to both the Chief of Government and Community Relations & Protocol (CGCRP) and the Chief of Staff (COS), the Administrative Coordinator (AC) role works independently to perform a wide range of confidential administrative and clerical support duties. The role requires effective communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to provide information and services to a wide range of contacts. As well, the role requires knowledge of the University and departmental policies and procedures.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.
Experience:
2 years' related experience in a university, non-profit or government environment.
Skills:
Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure of high volume of work and constantly changing priorities.
Ability to work simultaneously on projects and work independently and cooperatively as part of a small team.
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with all parts of the University, government, and corporate offices at a senior level.
Effective communications and customer service skills to communicate with internal and external constituents. Able to deal courteously and effectively with others.
Effective interpersonal skills.
Effective organizational skills and attention to detail.
Able to exercise good judgment and initiative in providing advice and appropriately directing/resolving problems.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle highly sensitive issues with discretion, diplomacy, and tact.

Open office environment in a secured area accessible by keycard.Dress code appropriate to a senior Executive office is required.
There is a vacation restriction during Spring and Fall convocation.
York's CPM Compensation Framework has a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.
