K’awat’si Fisheries Company is looking for an Administrative Officer to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the office by providing high-level administrative support. This role requires exceptional organizational, communication, and multitasking skills and the ability to manage confidential information and coordinate various projects and activities for the K’awat’si Fisheries team.
This is not a remote position and requires relocation to Port Hardy, located on the northern tip of Vancouver Island, BC. Port Hardy serves as a gateway to natural beauty and cultural heritage. Nestled in a region of breathtaking rainforests, rugged coastlines, and vibrant marine life, the town offers a rich tapestry of community and history.
Employment Type: Temporary, Full-Time – 6 Months
Salary: $50,000–$60,000 per year, annualized and prorated for the duration of the 6-month temporary position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of the office.
- Organize and maintain filing systems, both physical and digital.
- Answer and direct phone calls, emails, and inquiries.
- Serve as a point of contact for internal and external clients.
- Prepare and distribute correspondence such as memos, emails, and letters.
- Schedule and organize meetings, appointments, and conferences.
- Maintain calendars for Manager.
- Input, update, and retrieve data in databases and spreadsheets.
- Prepare reports and presentations using tools like Microsoft Office or Google Suite.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Assist in special projects or events as needed.

Other duties shall be assigned as required.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years experience in an administrative role preferred.
- Post-Secondary education or formal training is considered an asset.
- Previous experience in project management is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of general office procedures.
- Able to write and format moderately complex correspondence, including memos, letters, etc.
- Computer literacy, including effective working skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and e-mail required.
- Professional, responsive, and positive work attitude is essential.
- Meticulous records maintenance skills with the ability to maintain filing systems and basic databases.
- Superior telephone manners and excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to communicate with all levels of the organization.
