Behavioural Health Navigator
Beccarian Correctional Care
At Beccarian Correctional Care, we prioritize individuals' well-being and long-term recovery from addiction through a holistic, person-centered approach. Our evidence-based practices empower and foster hope, promoting personal growth. We collaborate with government officials and stakeholders to develop customized strategies grounded in recovery-oriented care principles. We drive positive change in creating pathways of recovery from addiction.
We are currently seeking a Behavioural Health Navigator (BHN) to join our team in the Therapeutic Living Unit (TLU) in Fort Saskatchewan. TLUs are unique Therapeutic Communities within correctional settings, providing inmates (members) an opportunity for evidence-based care for substance use disorders. As a BHN, you play a crucial role in supporting the "community as method" process. Working alongside TLU members, you participate equally in various activities like recreation, and chores, emphasizing membership and modeling behavior.
All staff actively participate in the community, ensuring a safe and positive environment. Through sharing personal experiences with members, you create connections while maintaining professional boundaries and employing 'Rational Authority' in Therapeutic Community language. This collaborative and objective facilitation is what drives meaningful change for TLU members, making the community the major catalyst for transformation.
Reporting to the TLU Lead, the BHN's primary role is to mentor and engage members in groups to address substance misuse and mental health challenges.
