Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Health & Safety Coordinator (6-month contract) to support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the organization's health and safety programs. Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, the successful candidate will assist in ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, corporate standards, and industry best practices while promoting a proactive safety culture. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and organizational skills, a solid understanding of workplace health and safety, and the ability to work collaboratively with employees, supervisors, and management. Principal Accountabilities (The following is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. It is not an exhaustive list of all expectations):
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation and maintenance of health and safety programs, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct workplace inspections, identify hazards, and track corrective actions.
- Assist with hazard assessments, risk assessments, and safe work procedures.
- Monitor material handling equipment safety, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and order pickers.
- Coordinate safety training, orientations, certifications, and employee safety communications.
- Assist with incident, injury, near-miss, and property damage investigations.
- Maintain safety records, documentation, training databases, and compliance records.
- Support compliance with applicable health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare safety reports, statistics, and performance metrics.
- Support the Joint Health & Safety Committee and follow up on recommendations.
- Assist with emergency preparedness, inspections, and response activities.
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of health and safety experience, preferably in an industrial, warehouse, manufacturing, transportation, or construction environment.
- Diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field is preferred but not required.
- CRSP designation or working toward a recognized safety designation is an asset.
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, warehouse hazards, and material handling equipment safety.
- Experience conducting workplace inspections, incident investigations, and safety training.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to build positive working relationships with employees and leadership.
- Strong attention to detail, accountability, and commitment to continuous improvement.
- Ability to work in both office and warehouse environments.
- Ability to walk throughout a large warehouse, access stairs/mezzanine areas, and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs (11 kg).
- Ability to wear required PPE, including safety footwear and high-visibility apparel.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe workplace and complying with company policies and applicable legislation.

Nights: 3:30pm to 11:30pm Monday to Friday
