St. Lawrence Cruise Lines Inc. has an opening for the position of Head Cook for a Kingston-based overnight cruise ship on 4, 5, 6 and 7 night voyages to Montreal, Ottawa and Quebec City.
This position is Full-time, Seasonal from July to October. Paid training is provided. Commercial kitchen or food preparation experience is required for this position.
St. Lawrence Cruise Lines is a Kingston, Ontario business that has been operating since 1981. St Lawrence Cruise Lines provides 4, 5, 6, 7 night cruises on the St. Lawrence and Ottawa Rivers with an emphasis on the natural beauty and rich history of Canada's rivers.
Under the supervision of the Ship’s Cruise Director, the Head Cook is responsible for providing breakfast, lunch, dinner for approximately 50-60 guests and a crew of up to 14 persons:
- Attending to dietary specifics
- Three meals per day
- Afternoon Tea
- Evening Hors d’oeuvres
- Cleanliness of the Ship’s Galley
- Food preparation
- Plating
- Supervising the Galley Assistant/Dishwasher
Work Period:
- 12 hour days average
- Alternating 4, 5, 6 and 7 night cruises on a "cruise-on, cruise-off" basis – equivalent to 40+ hrs per week
Wages and Compensation:
· $300/day or $23/hr + gratuities
· Full participation in crew gratuity program
· Transportation to/from ports provided (with food allowance)
· Meals and accommodation provided while cruising
