Accounts Receivable/Collections Clerk
POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are looking for a meticulous Accounts Receivable Clerk to join our team in Markham, Ontario. In this role, you will focus on managing customer deductions, resolving payment discrepancies, and ensuring accurate financial records. This position demands strong analytical skills, effective communication, and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Prepare and enter credit notes, complete with all necessary back-up documents
· Review all credit balances, refunds, and adjustments, and apply adjustments and/or corrections to corporate billing records.
· Investigate and resolve short payment deductions, such as issues with shortages, damages, or pricing discrepancies.
· Verify customer accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
· Process credit card payments from customers online
· Monitor all customer accounts to identify discrepancies in payment received, and to follow up for any outstanding information/documentation
· Prepare AR Collection Forecast Report weekly
· Form collection strategies to mitigate customer objections to making timely AR payments.
· Make collection calls to resolve outstanding balances and address payment inconsistencies.
· Ensure the strict confidentiality and privacy of financial records as they relate to the organization and its customers
· Collaborate with the Finance team to maintain collection goals and general AR performance levels
· Continuously improve AR processes to enhance efficiency and member satisfaction, documenting best practices and key learnings along the way
· Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Previous experience in Accounts Receivable
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Strong knowledge of collection regulations and fair credit practices
· Proficient in Word, Excel and Outlook
· Strong diplomatic, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills in order to handle late payments and delinquent accounts
· High level of attention to detail and degree of accuracy
· Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
· Strong organizational, problem solving, analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
· Ability to make decisions and multi-task
