Nova Scotia Health Authority provides health services to Nova Scotians and some specialized services to Maritimers and Atlantic Canadians. We operate hospitals, health centres and community-based programs across the province. Our team of health professionals includes employees, doctors, researchers, learners and volunteers that provide the health care or services you may need. This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.
This position aids in overall patient care by performing clerical functions including but not limited to registration, communications (switchboard) and other health information related duties such as dispositions and generating reports as required. Cross training with Registration and Admitting is required. This position consists of rotating shifts and will require shift work on days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
- Grade 12 or equivalent plus completion of a recognized office procedure/secretarial program, or 1 year previous clerical/administration experience is required
- Demonstrated skills and experience with Windows and Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook required
- Graduate of an approved Medical Terminology program is required
- Maintains high degree of confidentiality at all times is required
- Related hospital exposure is required
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks required
- Demonstrated skill in working collaboratively and effectively with others
- Ability and willingness to meet challenges and adapt to changing situations essential
- An equivalent combination of education and training may be considered for this position
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours of Work
Casual x 2 positions; no guaranteed hours
This position consists of rotating shifts and will require shift work on days, evenings weekends and holidays
$19.9858 - $21.7955 hourly
